Meghan Joyce and Scott Wojtanik founded Buffalo Comedy Collective in Buffalo, New York in 2022 as the ComedySportz Buffalo franchise, joining the national ComedySportz network. The company presents audience-judged competitive short-form improv shows with two teams competing through improv games, delivering a family-friendly format to the Buffalo entertainment market.

As a ComedySportz affiliate, Buffalo Comedy Collective runs the organization's signature competitive format in which audience members score and judge two competing improv teams. The format's accessibility and interactivity suits Buffalo's community-oriented entertainment culture.

Buffalo Comedy Collective brings ComedySportz competitive short-form improv to Western New York as the Buffalo franchise of the national comedy organization.

ComedySportz Buffalo is the venue's anchor production, presenting competitive short-form improv in which two teams of professional comedians improvise games, songs, jokes, and scenes while a referee calls fouls and fields audience suggestions. Script Tease presents improvised movie-style performances, and the Shorties Show offers game-based short-form improv for audiences seeking a faster format. Comedy After Dark features local improv groups in late-night programming, and the venue hosts game show-inspired performances alongside classes in short-form musicals and comedy writing.

ComedySportz originally arrived in Buffalo in 1992 through Randy Reese, establishing competitive short-form improv as a fixture of Western New York comedy. When the pandemic forced the existing ComedySportz franchise to close, Meghan Joyce and Scott Wojtanik, both veterans of the CSz Buffalo Pro Roster, stepped in to acquire the franchise license and founded Buffalo Comedy Collective in 2022 to preserve the format for the region. The collective opened its own purpose-built 60-seat venue at 155 Chandler Street in April 2025, a renovated space with full sound and lighting, a bar, and a sandwich menu with comedy-themed names, becoming the first permanent home for ComedySportz in Buffalo in decades.

Meghan Joyce began performing with CSz Buffalo's Minor League program in 2016 before joining the Pro Roster, and she has participated in multiple long-form groups including Twisted Sister Act, Dream Cheese, Fan Fiction, Last Resort, and Unscripted: An Improvised Play. Scott Wojtanik began improv classes at CSz Buffalo in 2010, joined the Minor League program in 2013, and has been a Pro Roster member since 2014, also performing with Dream Cheese and Last Resort. Together they lead a Buffalo improv community that numbers over 50 active performers, continuing a ComedySportz tradition that nationally counts Wayne Brady among its alumni.
