Berlin's first international alternative comedy stage and bar, opened in autumn 2015 by Noah Telson and Leah Katz in Neukölln. The venue combines a 70-seat soundproof theatre, a full bar, and the CCB Training School offering improv and stand-up courses in English and German.
History
Noah Telson and Leah Katz opened Comedy Cafe Berlin in the autumn of 2015 at Roseggerstrasse 17, Neukolln, establishing the city's first dedicated international alternative comedy venue. The CCB Training School was launched as the venue's education arm, offering courses in both English and German drawing from Del Close and the North American long-form tradition.
The venue operates a 70-seat soundproof theatre with a full bar, programming German and English stand-up comedy, long-form improv shows, and podcast recordings. Resident ensemble Turtle Logic, winners of the 2024 CCB Cage Match Tournament, performs long-form improv in the UCB style.
Instructors at the Training School have included Summer A. Banks, founder of the Berlin English Improv Network.
Artistic Identity
Comedy Cafe Berlin programmes both English and German comedy, positioning itself as a bilingual alternative comedy hub in Berlin's Neukolln district. The CCB Training School's curriculum follows the North American long-form tradition, grounded in the Del Close approach. The school offers beginner and advanced courses, fostering Berlin's English-language improv community alongside a German-language track.
