Founding (2018)

Robert Cochrane first encountered ComedySportz while studying in Los Angeles in the 1990s, then relocated to Las Vegas in 2000 and performed with Second City there. He attempted to secure a CSz franchise license immediately but the licensing fell through. Approximately a decade later Cochrane re-engaged with CSz Worldwide and, together with Justin Green and the involvement of Lana Green (a ComedySportz pro player and former Buffalo team board president) and venue partner Mark Shunock, secured the Las Vegas franchise in June 2018.

Launch and Home

The Las Vegas franchise launched its first show in September 2018 at The Space venue, eventually settling at its current home at 3441 W Sahara Ave in Las Vegas. The venue is co-located with Bleach Improv, though the two organizations are entirely separate entities. CSz Las Vegas operates within the CSz Worldwide network spanning more than 25 US cities plus Manchester, UK.

Ongoing Operations

ComedySportz Las Vegas continues to present competitive short-form improv, corporate programs, and class offerings at its Sahara Avenue location.

ComedySportz Las Vegas presents the CSz Worldwide competitive short-form format: two teams competing in improv games before a referee with audience scoring. Family-appropriate programming targets Las Vegas's entertainment market alongside corporate team-building and training services. The company is part of an international CSz franchise network.

ComedySportz Las Vegas was founded in June 2018 by Robert Cochrane and Justin Green, bringing the CSz Worldwide competitive short-form format to the Las Vegas market for the first time as an independent franchise. Cochrane had first encountered the ComedySportz format in Los Angeles in the 1990s, and the Las Vegas launch represented the realization of a long-held ambition to establish the brand in a city whose entertainment industry is dominated by large-scale production shows rather than intimate improv venues. Operating at 3441 West Sahara Avenue, the franchise offers the standard two-team audience-judged competition with a referee, alongside adult programming, youth services, and corporate training.

As Las Vegas's dedicated ComedySportz franchise, the company occupies a distinctive position in a market where live comedy is largely organized around stand-up at major hotel venues rather than improv theater. The franchise's location in a commercial suite rather than a purpose-built theater reflects the economics of establishing independent improv in a tourist-driven entertainment economy. With operations underway since 2018, ComedySportz Las Vegas represents one of the newer additions to the CSz Worldwide network and continues to build its audience and training programs in the Las Vegas metro area.
