Istanbul's pioneering Turkish-language improv theatre company, performing since 2005 and formally incorporated as Dogaclama A.S. in 2011. The company offers shows, interdisciplinary workshops, a structured apprenticeship training program, and organises the Dogaclama Tiyatro Festivali.

History

IstanbulImpro began performing in Istanbul in 2005 as one of the city's first Turkish-language improv theatre ensembles. In 2011 the company formalised as a corporation under the name Dogaclama A.S., reflecting its growth from ensemble to established theatre institution. The company has staged over 1,000 shows across stage and screen since founding, and has delivered corporate improv training to more than 100 companies.

Alongside its performing and corporate work, the company organises the Dogaclama Tiyatro Festivali (Improvisation Theatre Festival), contributing to the development of the broader Turkish improv ecosystem. An apprenticeship program structures the company's approach to training new performers.

Artistic Identity

IstanbulImpro/Dogaclama A.S. performs original long-form formats in Turkish and provides corporate improv training, occupying both artistic and applied positions in Istanbul's improv scene. The company's interdisciplinary workshops and structured apprenticeship training distinguish its approach from informal ensembles.

Legacy

As one of Istanbul's first Turkish-language improv companies, IstanbulImpro helped establish the infrastructure of the Turkish improv scene and, through the Dogaclama Tiyatro Festivali, created a platform for the broader national improv community.
