Klub Komediowy is Warsaw's primary dedicated comedy venue, presenting a programme of improvisation, stand-up, theatre, concerts, and workshops. Describing itself as Poland's first and only true comedy club, it serves both as a performance space and as an institutional home for Warsaw's improv community.

History

Klub Komediowy began its life at the Chlodna 25 cafe-club in Warsaw, which had itself been a gathering point for the city's early improv practitioners from around 2008 onward. When Chlodna 25 closed, the club's founders pursued a dedicated venue and successfully crowdfunded the opening of a permanent space, eventually settling near Plac Zbawiciela in central Warsaw. The club opened in 2014 and quickly became a central staging ground for Warsaw's expanding improv scene, hosting groups including Klancyk, Hofesinka, Hulaj, and Humbuk alongside stand-up performers affiliated with Stand-Up Polska. Monthly English-language improv programming and musical improv for children have been established as recurring formats within the club's calendar.

Artistic Identity

Klub Komediowy functions as a multi-format comedy venue rather than a producing theatre, providing infrastructure for a diverse community of improv ensembles and stand-up comedians operating in Warsaw. Its programming reflects the breadth of Polish comedy culture, from long-form theatrical improv to English-language shows catering to the city's international population.
