Szkola Impro is Poland's first and longest-operating theatrical improvisation school, based in Warsaw and active since 2012. The institution offers a structured multi-level curriculum in both long-form and short-form improv, alongside corporate training, workshop camps, and annual summer intensive programs.

History

Szkola Impro emerged from the workshop activity at Chlodna 25, where Michal Sufin had been running Saturday improv workshops under the name Zrob scene as part of the Klancyk ensemble's community work. In mid-2012, Bartek Mlynarski, Krzysztof Dziubak, Piotr Sikora, and Pawel Najgebauer, drawing on training they had undertaken at iO Chicago, Second City Chicago, and The Annoyance Theatre, formalized Szkola Impro as a standalone institution. The school introduced Poland's first sequentially structured improv curriculum, progressing students from introductory Zerowka classes through scene work and into specialized paths for narrative, thematic, or short-form spectacle. Summer lake-retreat intensive programs have been offered since 2013. Since 2016 the school has operated from a permanent location at Dluga 44/50 in Warsaw.

Artistic Identity

Szkola Impro combines the methodologies of the Chicago improv tradition, particularly the iO and Second City approaches, with original pedagogical frameworks developed by Warsaw practitioners. The school positions itself as a community institution, emphasizing ensemble culture and a non-judgmental learning environment over competitive or showcase-driven training.
