Asheville Improv Festival
The Asheville Improv Festival is an annual improv comedy festival held in Asheville, North Carolina, produced by Double Dip Productions and organized by local improvisers in Appalachia. The festival celebrates Asheville's arts scene and showcases a range of formats including short-form, longform, narrative and unscripted theater, and musical improv. It accepts submissions from solos, duos, and ensembles, and hosts shows and workshops across multiple downtown venues.
History
The festival launched in 2025, with its second annual edition held in May 2026 across three downtown venues: Diana Wortham Center for the Performing Arts, NC Stage Company, and The Orange Peel. The 2026 edition featured more than 35 improv comedy teams from around the United States, along with 10 shows and 9 or more workshops.
Significance
The festival is described as one of the largest purely improv comedy festivals in the Southeastern United States.
