Baltimore Improv Festival
The Baltimore Improv Festival (BIF) is a week-long improv festival held annually in Baltimore, Maryland, produced by the Baltimore Improv Group (BIG), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The festival brings together 80+ improv teams and 400+ performers for seven nights of shows and workshops, drawing participants from 25+ cities and 15+ states. It takes place at the BIG Theater, located at 1727 N. Charles St. in the Station North Arts and Entertainment District.
History
The festival was founded in 2007 at the Theatre Project, beginning with three nights of performances headlined by the UCB Touring Company. It has since grown into a seven-night event; it was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 and resumed in 2023.
Significance
The Baltimore Improv Festival is described as the largest comedy festival in the Mid-Atlantic region, serving as a major gathering point for improv performers across the eastern United States.
