Blue Whale Comedy Festival
Blue Whale Comedy Festival is a multi-day district-wide comedy festival held in the Tulsa Arts District of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Founded in 2014 and organized by Guthrie Green, it presents stand-up, sketch, long-form improv, short-form improv, musical sketch, and video sketch acts across multiple venues, with Cain's Ballroom serving as the main stage for headliners. The festival's stated mission is to connect local Oklahoma talent with national performers.
History
Founded in 2014 by Guthrie Green, the festival has grown over its 10-plus year history to bring more than 200 comedy acts to Tulsa, with past headliners including Hannibal Buress, David Cross, Tig Notaro, Nikki Glaser, Eric Andre, Nate Bargatze, and Reggie Watts. The 2024 edition featured over 20 shows across seven venues and drew a record 230-plus submissions from across North America.
Significance
The festival provides a platform for improv troupes from cities including Nashville, Dallas, and New York alongside local Oklahoma acts, positioning Tulsa as a destination on the national comedy circuit.
