Das Improv Festival
Das Improv Festival is an annual alternative improv festival held in Berlin, Germany, in the Neukölln neighborhood. It showcases high-quality long-form improvised comedy in English for an international audience, with a focus on grounded and game-based styles, including long-form musical improv, guided by the principles of Truth and Game. Produced by Das Improv Collective zur Forderung von Improvisationstheater e.V., a registered nonprofit, the festival hosts more than 50 teams from around the world across two venues and offers 16 workshops ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
History
The festival was founded in 2019, paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, and resumed annual programming in 2023. Its organizing body, Das Improv Collective e.V., was formally established as a nonprofit in 2024.
Significance
The festival holds the EFFE Label (2024-2025) from the European Festivals Association, recognizing it as a quality festival within the European context.
