Defrost Festival
Defrost Festival is an annual mid-winter improv and sketch comedy festival held in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, organized by The Improv Conspiracy. The festival takes place across The Improv Conspiracy Theatre and Theory Bar, featuring over 50 shows, events, and workshops spanning a range of formats and experience levels.
History
Founded by The Improv Conspiracy artistic director Adam Kangas, the festival first ran in 2022 and has grown steadily each year, reaching its 5th annual edition in 2026.
Significance
The festival bills itself as the biggest improv and sketch festival in the Southern Hemisphere, drawing local and interstate instructors and performers to Melbourne each winter.
