Glasgow Improv Marathon
The Glasgow Improv Marathon is a 10-hour nonstop improv event held at The Old Hairdressers in Glasgow's city centre, organised by Glasgow Improv Theatre (The GIT). The inaugural edition runs May 28-30, 2026, featuring 30-minute long-form team sets and shorter concept-focused shows, with profits shared among performing artists. The marathon weekend also includes workshops led by guests from the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles.
History
The event was founded in 2026 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Glasgow Harold Night, which Martin James established in April 2016 following his training at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles. The festival was inspired by the Del Close Marathon.
Significance
The Glasgow Improv Marathon brings international UCB talent to Scotland and opens participation to long-form performers from across Scotland and beyond, marking a milestone in Glasgow's organised improv community.
