Improv Fest Ireland
Improv Fest Ireland is an international festival of improvised theatre and comedy held annually in Dublin, Ireland, at the Teacher's Club Theatre in Parnell Square. The festival features 2-3 shows nightly and 10-12 workshops across the week, drawing performers and teachers from over a dozen countries. A Belfast edition runs the week before the Dublin dates.
History
Founded in 2013 by Neil Curran, Improv Fest Ireland was the first festival in Ireland dedicated solely to improvisation.
Significance
The festival holds the EFFE Label from the European Festivals Association, making it the only dedicated improv festival in Europe with this distinction. It is self-funded through ticket sales and volunteer work, and is one of the few improv festivals that offers payment shares to performers.
