Mobile Improv Comedy Carnival
The Mobile Improv Comedy Carnival (MICC) is Alabama's first improv comedy festival, held over two nights at the Mobile Carnival Museum in downtown Mobile. Organized by Steven Castle, Chip Goff, and Barney March, the inaugural 2026 edition features 17 performances from improvisers representing 12 cities across 9 U.S. states, including all of Mobile's local improv troupes. Saturday daytime workshops at venues throughout downtown are open to all experience levels, with free introductory sessions available to the community.
History
The festival launched in April 2026 as the first dedicated improv comedy festival in Alabama, with its inaugural edition headlined by HERE! The (Improvised) Musical, starring Tara DeFrancisco and Rance Rizzutto.
Significance
The festival fills a geographic gap as the only dedicated improv comedy festival between New Orleans and Sarasota, with the stated mission of positioning Mobile as a cultural hub for live improvised performance.
