Northwest Improv Fest
The Northwest Improv Fest (NWIF) is a three-day festival of improv comedy shows, workshops, and community building held in Spokane, Washington. It is co-organized by Blue Door Theatre of Spokane and Levity Theatre of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and brings together improv troupes from Spokane and across the United States.
History
The festival was founded in 2024 by Noah Johnson of Levity Theatre, in partnership with Jim Mohr and Blue Door Theatre. It has grown rapidly, with submission tapes nearly tripling from 16 teams in its inaugural year to 46 reviewed for the second edition.
Significance
The festival serves as a regional gathering point for the Pacific Northwest improv community, and its 2026 edition prompted the City of Spokane to declare April 2026 as Improv Month in honor of Blue Door Theatre's 30 years of performing and teaching improv.
