Ocean State Improv Festival
The Ocean State Improv Festival is an annual improv comedy festival held each June at The Contemporary Theater Company in Wakefield, Rhode Island. The festival brings together 30 to 40 troupes from across the country for nightly troupe showcases, mixer shows, and workshops. Signature mixer formats include Theatresports, Micetro, Pirate, and the Duo Bracket Challenge, in which performers from different troupes collaborate live. Workshops and multi-day intensives cover physical storytelling, genre-based improvisation, and emotional connection work.
History
The Ocean State Improv Festival was founded in 2019 and by 2026 had reached its 8th annual edition.
