Omaha Comedy Fest
Omaha Comedy Fest is an annual comedy festival held in Omaha, Nebraska, organized by The Backline Comedy Theatre. The volunteer-led nonprofit event brings together established and emerging comedians for a weekend of performances, workshops, panels, and parties across multiple venues in Little Bohemia and downtown Omaha. The festival features over 70 shows and 150 acts from across the country, encompassing standup, improv, sketch, and workshop programming.
History
The festival was founded in 2013 by Dylan Oakes Rohde as the Omaha Improv Festival at The Backline Comedy Theatre. In 2019, it was rebranded as Omaha Comedy Fest to reflect its expansion beyond improv into standup, sketch, panels, and workshops.
Significance
The festival draws performers from across the country and has featured notable comedians including Amber Ruffin, Beth Stelling, Colton Dunn, Jay Jurden, Kevin McDonald, Dave Foley, and Amy Miller.
