Royal Improv Festival
The Royal Improv Festival is a multi-day improv comedy festival held in Charlotte and Lake Norman, North Carolina, organized by Queen City Comedy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The festival is part of the Queen City Comedy Experience, Charlotte's broader celebration of comedy. It features shows, workshops, jams, and after parties designed to bring performers together in a collaborative environment.
History
The Royal Improv Festival launched in 2025 as part of the Queen City Comedy Experience, which has been running since 2017. The 2026 edition, the second annual, expanded to six days and two locations.
Significance
The festival draws performers through a competitive submission process reviewed by third-party auditors from outside the Carolinas, and has featured nationally recognized headliners including TJ Jagodowski and Dave Pasquesi, described by The New York Times as "Second City-seasoned masters of long form improv."
