San Francisco Improv Festival
The San Francisco Improv Festival (SFIF) is a five-day improv comedy festival held in San Francisco, California, organized by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The festival takes place at Silk Road Bar in Union Square, running Wednesday through Sunday.
History
Founded in 2004 by Sam Shaw and Shaun Landry, the festival was relaunched in 2009 under Executive Producer Jamie Wright and members of the improv troupe Crisis Hopkins, and ran through 2019 before pausing during the pandemic-era shutdown of large-scale entertainment. The 2026 edition marks the festival's return under new leadership, with Artistic Director Marcus Sams and producers Michael J. Astrauskas and Clay Robeson.
