Sweden International Improv Festival
The Sweden International Improv Festival, abbreviated as SWIMP, is an annual international improvisational theatre festival held in March or April in Uppsala, Sweden. The four-day event is produced and hosted by Teater Prego and Reginateatern, the oldest theatre in Uppsala. The festival features workshops and performances by improvisers and instructors from around the world, with venues clustered along Trädgårdsgatan, informally known as "Improv Street" during the event.
History
SWIMP was first held in 2015 at Reginateatern in Uppsala. During its first three years, participants from 17 countries took part, including improvisers from the United States, Italy, India, Belgium, England, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Argentina.
Significance
SWIMP has established itself as a hub for international artistic exchange in improvisational theatre, with equal gender representation and broad national diversity among its stated organizational priorities.
