Comedy XPeriment

Founding (2003)

Mr. V Van Haecke founded Comedy XPeriment in 2003, gathering performers willing to abandon scripted work entirely and build shows from audience suggestions alone. The troupe established itself as central Iowa's foundational improv ensemble, filling a gap in Des Moines' comedy ecology at a time when dedicated improv venues were absent from the region.

Programming

ComedyXPeriment built its audience through regular performances at established Des Moines venues, including Stoner Theater within Des Moines Performing Arts, alongside corporate entertainment bookings for clients throughout the greater Des Moines metropolitan area. The troupe has performed New Year's Eve events on the Stoner Theater stage and developed a loyal regional following over more than twenty years of operation.

Ongoing Operations

ComedyXPeriment continues to perform in Des Moines, claiming the title of central Iowa's longest-running improv troupe. The organization functions primarily as a performing ensemble rather than a training institution.

Comedy XPeriment presents audience-suggestion-driven improv blending long-form and short-form approaches. As an ensemble without its own building, the troupe adapts to different venue contexts while maintaining a consistent performance identity built around spontaneity and audience responsiveness. The company serves both theatrical and corporate entertainment contexts.
