Little Improv Theatre

Franchise Establishment (1993)

ComedySportz San Antonio was established in 1993 as part of the CSz Worldwide franchise network, bringing the competitive short-form improv format to the San Antonio market. The franchise is one of the earlier Texas CSz expansions, predating the broader corporate entertainment growth of the format in the American Southwest.

Little Improv Theatre Venue

The San Antonio franchise operates under the venue brand Little Improv Theatre, currently at 11950 Starcrest Dr Suite 210. The company presents ComedySportz shows every Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, offering family-appropriate competitive improv with two teams competing before a referee with audience scoring.

Ongoing Operations

Little Improv Theatre / ComedySportz San Antonio continues to offer weekly shows, class programming, and corporate training as the CSz franchise representative for the San Antonio market.

Little Improv Theatre presents ComedySportz competitive short-form improv in the standard CSz Worldwide format: two teams compete in improv games before a referee with audience scoring. The all-ages, family-appropriate format targets the San Antonio entertainment market. The venue brand "Little Improv Theatre" distinguishes the physical space from its CSz franchise identity.

The Little Improv Theatre presents ComedySportz Main Event every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., a family-friendly match format in which two teams of professional improvisers compete for laughs and points before a referee, with team uniforms, fouls, flags, and audience scoring. The Saturday Late Night Long Form show at 10 p.m. is an adults-oriented companion production featuring longer-form ensemble improv. The venue also offers corporate team-building events, school assembly performances, and private shows as extensions of its programming.

ComedySportz San Antonio was established in 1993 as a franchise of the ComedySportz brand, which was founded in 1984 and grew into one of the longest-running comedy show formats in the United States, with affiliate companies in more than 25 cities worldwide. The San Antonio franchise has operated continuously for more than three decades, making it one of the most enduring comedy institutions in the Texas market. The Little Improv Theatre at 11950 Starcrest Drive serves as the franchise's dedicated home, and the company has been recognized by local audiences as a top destination for family entertainment in San Antonio.

The company's multi-level class program serves as a feeder into the performing ensemble, and the organization notes that many of its current players began as students in the Improv 101 curriculum. ComedySportz San Antonio's corporate training and applied improv offerings have become a significant part of its operations, serving businesses across the region with communication and team-building workshops. The franchise's three-decade run in San Antonio represents one of the longest uninterrupted ComedySportz operations in the national network and has established short-form competitive improv as a recognized entertainment format in South Texas.
