Object Work
The practice of miming interactions with imaginary objects to establish environment and ground scenes in physical reality. Effective object work creates a shared spatial reality on an empty stage: opening doors, pouring drinks, handling tools, and interacting with furniture. Viola Spolin considered it essential to theatrical presence.
