Tonia and Curt Doussett founded ComedySportz Utah in March 1999, acquiring the Utah franchise rights to the ComedySportz competitive short-form improv format established by Dick Chudnow in Milwaukee in 1984. The Doussetts later separated from the ComedySportz franchise network and rebranded the company as ComedyBox Utah, retaining the competitive two-team format. The company has operated from 36 West Center Street in Provo, also maintaining a Midvale location at various points.
