OTRimprov

Founding (2010)

OTRimprov began in 2010 as a loose collective of Cincinnati improvisers seeking performance space and community. The group initially headlined shows for the "Little Big Night" series at Know Theatre of Cincinnati before formalizing a partnership under Know Theatre's Jackson Street Market resource-sharing program for emerging companies. This arrangement gave OTRimprov independent producing capability while sharing the Know's Underground space in the Over-the-Rhine arts district.

Over-the-Rhine Identity

Operating in Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood gives OTRimprov a distinctive community identity rooted in one of the city's most historically significant arts and cultural districts. The company's institutional home at Know Theatre Underground situates it within the city's established independent theatre infrastructure.

Ongoing Operations

OTRimprov continues to operate at Know Theatre Underground in Over-the-Rhine as Cincinnati's long-form ensemble collective, distinct from Improv Cincinnati (Clifton Comedy Theatre) which operates separately across the city.

OTRimprov presents long-form ensemble improv rooted in the community-oriented tradition of the Over-the-Rhine arts district. The collective's identity emphasizes independence and ensemble development within the Know Theatre's collaborative institutional framework.
