The Old Fire Hall
The Old Fire Hall is the original Toronto home of The Second City comedy company, located at 110 Lombard Street. The building served as the launching ground for numerous performers including Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Mike Myers, Catherine O'Hara, Gilda Radner, Martin Short, and Dave Thomas.
History
Built in 1886 as the Toronto Fire Department Headquarters, the building served that function until 1910 and was vacated in 1970. Second City performed there from 1973 until 1997, when it relocated to 56 Blue Jays Way; the Old Fire Hall subsequently housed Gilda's Club Toronto from 2001 to 2011 before becoming home to the Complections College of Makeup Art and Design in 2012.
