Environment Build One by One
Environment Build One by One is a space work exercise in which players enter a shared space sequentially, each adding a single mimed object or physical action to the environment. Each new player must accept and work around all previously established objects, building a coherent shared physical world through accumulated offers. The exercise develops object work discipline, spatial awareness, and the collaborative skill of building on what is already there.
Walking by Numbers
Walking by Numbers is an exercise in which the facilitator calls out a number from one to ten and players adjust their walking speed accordingly, with one being extremely slow and ten being the fastest possible pace. The exercise trains physical control, spatial awareness, and the ability to calibrate energy on command.
Dissociation
Dissociation is an exercise that reverses the standard word association pattern by requiring players to say a word that has no connection to the previous word. The exercise is surprisingly difficult, as the mind naturally seeks patterns and relationships. It trains performers to break habitual thought connections and access unexpected material.
Alphabet Soup
Alphabet Soup is a verbal exercise in which players contribute to a group story or conversation while each player's contribution must contain a word beginning with the next letter of the alphabet. The game builds verbal flexibility and listening within a shared narrative frame.
Mind Meld
Mind Meld is a convergence exercise in which two players simultaneously say unrelated words, and the group then attempts to find a single word that connects the two. Players count down and speak at the same time, narrowing toward a shared answer through successive rounds of association. The exercise trains group mind, lateral thinking, and the trust required to commit to a choice without hesitation.
Hot Potato
Hot Potato is a circle game in which an imagined object is passed rapidly around the group, and whoever holds it when a signal sounds must perform a task, answer a question, or be eliminated. The exercise raises energy and adds stakes to simple passing games. It builds speed and the comfort with being put on the spot.
